Como ya os había contado en mi anterior 'Quedamos en...', varios blogeros de España y Latinoamérica quedamos virtualmente de vez en cuando para publicar una entrada sobre el mismo tema, cada cual con su propio estilo personal. ¡Este mes toca el salón! Y yo, como siempre, he reservado para tan especial ocasión mi espacio favorito encontrado en la red el año pasado!

Este salón lo descubrí hace ya algunos meses en la revista MiCasa. Se trata de una preciosa casa barcelonesa que tiene un amplio y luminoso salón separado del hall por una pared de cristal corredera. El espacio visual se agranda y la luz fluye de lado a lado de la estancia. En el centro se situó una original escalera de hierro que contrasta con un interior predominantemente blanco.

This month is time for the living room! And I have saved my best pick for such a special occasion!

I found out this living room in MiCasa magazine a few months ago. It's a gorgeous house situated in Barcelona, with a light and spacious living area separated from the entry by a sliding glass wall. The visual space looks large and the light flows from one side to the other side of the room. In the centre of this room, an bold black stair brings some contrast to this white interior.

Hola a todos. Estaba ahora mismo preguntándome porque siempre en enero me llega una crisis creativa, acaso soy yo la única a la que se le quedan las ideas congeladas en esta época del año? Será que la Navidad me dejó las ideas pegadas a la decoración navideña y ahora no puedo despegarlas? O será que mi mente hiberna hasta la primavera? Para ponerte en modo ‘hibernación’ en casa, hoy encontré estas monísimas tacitas de café o chocolate con jersey. Las hay en cuadro colores pastel diferentes (en su interior, el exterior es del mismo color) para que cada cual en casa sepa cual es la suya y no haya confusiones.
Tienen un relieve que imita la textura de un jersey tejido de lana, parecen tan calentitas! Me encantan!

To get into the hibernation mood at home, I found today this super-cute mugs with sweater. They are available in four different colours so that everyone knows which one is theirs (the interior has a different colour but the exterior is the same for the four of them). Detailed knitted pattern resembling a sweater covers the mug to give it that warm, cuddly look. I just love them!

¡Hola a todos! ¡Feliz 2012! Un nuevo año significa nuevas oportunidades para renovar, comenzar de cero o volver a intentarlo; por ello, muchos comienzan el año con una lista de propósitos para el año nuevo. ¡Y a mí me encantan las listas!

Muchos dicen que la lista de propósitos de año nuevo debería llamarse lista de propósitos para la primera semana del enero, pero yo no estoy de acuerdo. Todos mejoramos, corregimos, rectificamos, aprendemos y crecemos a lo largo del año. Hacer un listado de aquello en lo que nos queremos centrar especialmente es un buen punto de partida.

Yo estructuro mi lista de propósitos en 3 partes:

Cosas que me gusta hacer y quiero seguir haciendo
Cosas que no me gustaría seguir haciendo y quiero cambiar
Cosas nuevas que quiero intentar, aprender, explorar, experimentar o descubrir

¿Hacemos juntos nuestra lista de propósitos para el nuevo año? Venga coged lápiz y papel, vamos allá!

Hi all! Happy New Year!!! New Year means new oportunities to renew, start from scratch or give it another go; that's why most of us start every year with a New Year's resolution list. And I definitely love lists!

Some people say that the New Year's resolution list should be called First week of January's resolution list instead, but I don't agree! Everybody improves, amends, learns and grows a little bit every year along the year. To do a list of those special things that we need to focus this year is a very good start.

I organise my resolution list in 3 areas:

Things that I like to do and I want to continue doing
Things that I would like to stop doing and want to change
New things that I want to try, learn, explore, expirience and discover

Una de las constantes que he venido observando este año en la decoración navideña de revistas internacionales ha sido la presencia del Cascanueces. Muchos ya conoceréis o habréis leído la historia del cascanueces; algunos afortunados hasta habréis visto la representación de este ballet en alguna ocasión; otros como yo, habréis visto la historia quizás en película, (si, de acuerdo, ninguna película seria comparable a ver su puesta en escena en el teatro). Something that I’m constantly observing in the Christmas decoration in international magazines this year is the presence of the Nutcracker. Most of you already know or have already read the story of The Nutcracker; some lucky ones have probably seen the ballet performance at the theatre; some others, like me, might watch the movie (I know, a movie cannot be compared with the magic of the theatre performance). In any case, The Nutcracker is the most famous compositions typically performed in Christmas and now also a Christmas icon.

Si hay alguien que a estas alturas no esté ya sufriendo estrés pre-vacacional, que por favor deje un comentario en ChicDeco contándonos el secreto. Yo, a tan solo 5 días de la Noche Buena, aun estoy en fase de decisión: qué puedo regalar a todos y cada uno de los miembros de familia? qué voy a cocinar el Noche Buena y Navidad? qué le voy a regalar mi amigo invisible? Lo peor de todo es que cada vez que veo el árbol de Navidad sin regalos todavía o los christmas sobre el escritorio a medio escribir y sin sellos, me dan ganas de echarme a llorar...

Al igual que existen shopping assistants o wedding planners, deberían existir los Christmas assistants que te ayudan a organizar toda la agenda y regalos de Navidad, incluidos los christmas! Yo contrataría sus servicios hoy mismo! Acabaré de inventar una nueva profesión?

Una de mis ideas de regalo para toda la familia en Navidad son las galletas caseras. Las de la imagen las encontré en el blog de café noHut y quedan fenomenal con los lacitos en rojo, verdad!? Son una idea genial para regalos hechos a mano.

¿Porqué me encanta este espacio? Porque mezcla un estilo nórdico con un exótico acento marroquí en mitad de una atmósfera navideña. Nadie podría pensar que esta mezcla pudiese funcionar pero hay que admitir que los estilistas de Hus&Hem hicieron un trabajo sensacional en este espacio!

Me encantan las casas de differentes estilos europeos y me vuelve loca esta casa de acento inglés. Bolas de Navidad hechas a manoHand-made Christmas baubles

Aquí están las bolas de Navidad que hice en casa este fin de semana! Cuando las compré en una tienda de manualidades eran simples bolas transparentes, muy sosas. Compré confetti de estrellitas doradas y las pegue alrededor de las bolas para darle un toque navideño. Todavía parecían un poco sosas. Entonces pensé en abrirlas y rellenarlas con algo.

Pobré 20 rellenos diferentes y ninguno me convencía. Finalmente vi que mi orquídea estaba perdiendo su flores y pensé que el color violeta de las flores quedaría genial con el dorado de las estrellas, así que las metí en dentro de las bolas. Así hice 12 bolas.

Inicialmente su destino iba a ser el árbol pero han quedado tan bonitas que creo que las voy a utilizar de centro de mesa.

Here are my handmade Christmas baubles, I made them this weekend at home! When I bought them in a craft shop they were quite plain and boring. I bought some golden star confetti and stuck some little stars around the baubles. Now they had a Christmas look, but they were still quite plain. So I thought I could open the baubles and fill them with something.

I tried 20 different things to fill my baubles and none of them looked good enough. Eventually I realised that my orchid was losing its flowers and that violet flowers would go great with my golden stars, so I filled the baubles with the flowers. I made 12 baubles!

I made them for my Christmas tree, but they are looking so pretty that I'm now thinking that I could create a centerpiece with them.

Este año he decidido traer a casa una Navidad ‘hecha a mano’. El motivo es básicamente económico. Hace ya más de un año y medio que me vine a vivir al otro lado del mundo. Solo pude traerme conmigo una maleta donde tuve que meter aquello que fuese realmente imprescindible para mí. Tuve que priorizar cuidadosamente lo que debía meter en ella y el árbol y adornos de Navidad, nunca estuvieron en mi lista.

Este año he comenzado toda la decoración navideña desde cero en mi nuevo hogar y con un presupuesto ajustadísimo. Por ello he decidido hacerle mis propios adornos navideños. He conseguido hacer 30 adornos para el árbol por menos de 20 euros y han quedado geniales. Os enseñare las fotos muy pronto.

Ahora estoy preparando los regalos de Navidad, que este año también serán hechos a mano! Todos los detalles de una Navidad hecha a manos muy pronto en ChicDeco. Que tengáis una feliz semana.

This year I’ve decided to create a hand-made Christmas at home. The reason is just a tight budget. It’s been more than a year and a half since I decided to move to the other side of the world. I just could bring a suitcase with the most important things that are totally necessary for me. I had to prioritise carefully those things that I should put into the suitcase; the Christmas tree and decorations weren’t on my list.

This year I have started to create all the Christmas decorations for my new home with a very small budget. For that reason I have decided to create my own Christmas decorations. I’ve made 30 decorations for less than 20 Euros and they are looking great in Christmas tree! I’ll show you some photos very soon.

Now I’m starting to plan on my Christmas presents for this year and they will also be hand made! I’ll share with you all the details of my hand made Christmas very soon in ChicDeco. Have a lovely week.

This week I picked this apartment, from Elle Decor magazine, as the house of the week. I don’t why this apartment looks so calm and peaceful. Maybe is that soft palette of white colours? Or maybe the open plan area with no obstacles between kitchen, living area and dining area? Or maybe are those smooth fabrics in sofas, rugs or carpets?

I love that bedroom and those two art-walls on the headboard. There is no better place to rest like this bedroom, isn’t it?

Entre las páginas de la revista australiana EST he encontrado hoy este estupendo hogar. Se trata de un loft junto al mar. Yo lo definiría como loft urbano playero o algo así. No es la típica casa de playa decorada en blanco y azul. La paleta de fríos grises y cálidos naranjas se combina en su interior para crear un contraste visual. No os perdáis las vigas de cemento visto del techo, le dan un toque muy industrial.

Among EST magazine pages I found out this stunning home. It's a loft in LA, walking distance to Marina and beach. I would define this style as 'urban-beach' loft. This apartment is not the tipical beach house decorated in blue and white. Cold greys and warm oranges are combine inside to create visual contrast. Don't miss their concrete beams in the ceiling, they give such an industrial look.

Hoy estrenamos un nuevo encuentro virtual entre editores de blogs de diferentes partes del mundo. ¿Quieres encontrarnos?

A new virtual meet-up series is starting today by blog editors from different parts of the world. Would you like to meet them?

Today a group of bloggers agreed on starting all together a new series of posts called 'Meet me at...' (one per month, more or less). During this virtual meet-up we will go through different rooms, giving our personal perspective of each (accoding to our own style, choices, etc...). We try to offer different perspectives on a common design theme. Today we are starting with the first of the rooms at every home: the hallway.

Hallways introduce every house and connect the life outside the house with the life inside. They are usually the smaller room in the house, and its interior design can bring some challenges. To plan the right layout of your hallway and its decorative elements, you can write down a list of things that you normally do before leaving and after coming back home and start from there:

Put on and take off your shoes? Get a stool and a rug
Hang on the bag and jacket, coat, etc? Coat rack or clothes stand will look great
A last quick look to yourself before going out? Find a mirror for the hallway

De entre las cosas que tengo en mi lista de cosas por hacer para esta semana, comienzan a aparecer las palabras 'Navidad' o 'regalos'. Ambas palabras suenan fenomenal por separado, pero cuando van juntas, comienza el estrés! Con la ilusión de empezar a preparar la Navidad un año más, también llegan los agobios de 'no sé que regalar'.

Lo primero que he hecho este año ha sido un listado de gente a la que quiero regalar esta Navidad, para ir apuntando al lado de cada nombre algunas posibles ideas de regalo.

Si no quieres volverte loco no intentes adivinar que es lo que a cada cual le gustaría que le regalases esta Navidad. En lugar de ello, piensa en todas aquellas cosas que hayas descubierto últimamente, que te encanten y que pienses que a alguien más le puedan gustar. A veces, el mejor regalo es aquel que te descubre algo nuevo, que ni siquiera sabías que querías, pero que ahora que lo tienes te encanta. Gracias a que alguien lo descubrió para ti.

Finalmente, para ayudarte con la lista de ideas, echa un vistazo a la guía de regalos de revistas y catálogos y comienza a tomar apuntes. La semana pasada salió online una de mis guías favoritas: Gifted Magazine, de Creature Conforts, con 125 ideas por debajo de los $30 ¡qué bien suena eso!

In my list of to do's for this week, words like 'Christmas' or 'presents' have started to appear. Both words sound so good when they are separated. But when they are together, here comes the stress! Christmas preparations are always so exciting, but Christmas presents are so stressful. I'm always in phase 1: what to buy?

This year, the first thing that I did was a list of people that I want to buy a present to start putting together some ideas for each of them.

If you don't want to go crazy, don't try to guess what everyone would like to get for Christmas to try to please them. Instead, think about those things that you found out lately, that you loved them and that someone else in your family or friends migh also like. Sometimes, the best present is the one that you didn't even know that you wanted, but now that you have it, you love it. Someone found it out for you.

Finally, to help you with the list of ideas, take a look at the gift guides from magazines and catalogues and start to take some notes. Last week, one of my favourite guides went online: Gifted Magazines, by Creature Conforts, with 125 gift ideas under $30. It sounds so good!

Últimamente no ha parado de llover, pero tengo que admitirlo: me encantan los días de lluvia! Sobretodo si son sábados o domingos. Te puedes quedar en casa, dormir hasta tarde, tomarte un chocolate caliente para desayunar bajo una mantita, hacer una comida deliciosa y leer revistas de decoración! Un plan perfecto para días de invierno!

Días de lluvia es lo primero que se me ha venido a la mente ojeando el catálogo de Aura Home. Sus diseños traen calidez a casa para los frios días lluviosos. Una revista francesa, Le journal de la maison, se hizo eco del encanto de esta casa catalana y publicó un artículo en el numero de Noviembre dedicado a ella. Dicen que es una casa de estilo nórdico en España. No estoy muy de acuerdo con eso de 'estilo nórdico' esas paredes de color pizarra no me recuerdan mucho a tal estilo. Yo diría más bien que la casa tiene un estilo industrial o ecléctico, o incluso rustico.

En cualquier caso me he quedado totalmente enamorada de la combinación madera natural, paredes de piedra y colores oscuros que creen una atmosfera íntima y muy sosegada, ideal para pasar días de invierno junto a la chimenea. A vosotros que os parece? Casa de estilo nórdico o masía catalana?

I don't really agree on that, to be honest, I don't think these charcoal walls and dark interiors are very common in the Nordic homes. I would say that this house is probably an industrial or eclectic house, or a typical Catalan country house called 'masia'.

In any case, I'm loving that combination of natural timber, stone walls and dark colours. The whole combination creates an intimate and calm atmosphere, perfect for winter days by the fireplace. What do you think? Is this house a Nordic-styled home or a Catalan masia?

Hola a todos, feliz primera semana de Noviembre! Hace unas semanas vi un programa de televisión en el que cuatro parejas reformaban y decoraban cuatro preciosas casas de estilo victoriano prácticamente iguales. Cada pareja opto por un estilo diferente: la primera opto por un estilo vintage, la segunda por un estilo industrial, la tercera por un estilo contemporáneo y la cuarta, creo que no tenía ningún estilo definido. Todas las parejas tuvieron ideas geniales durante el proceso de renovación de las cuatro casas, pero solo una me encanto: la casa vintage.

Esta historia me hizo pensar en cómo se elige la decoración mas acertada para una casa tan especial. Las casas con carácter suelen ser normalmente casas antiguas que están pidiendo a gritos un lavado de cara completo. Pero al mismo tiempo suelen ser casas especiales, diferentes, con historia, con personalidad.

No importa si lo tuyo es el estilo nórdico, el estilo rústico o el estilo contemporáneo, la casa manda. El contexto de la casa decide la decoración. Si encuentras una de estas casas modernas en el centro de la ciudad pero tú eres una enamorada del estilo rústico, no intentes traerte el campo a su interior, la casa ya ha decidido que lo suyo es el estilo urbano.

La mejor manera de comenzar a planificar la reforma y decoración de una casa es entendiendo su contexto, el lugar en el que se ubica y su historia. A partir de ahí, escucha las propuestas de decoración que la casa tiene para ti. Familiarízate con los diferentes estilos de decoración y cómo usarlos en cada caso concreto, y sólo cuando los domines con total maestría, atrévete a mezclarlos para lograr un estilo original y personal.

Hello everyone, happy first week of November! A few weeks ago I watched a TV show where four different couples renovated and decorated four gorgeous Victorian houses almost identical. Each couple had a different personal style: the first one chose a vintage style, the second one an industrial style, the third one a contemporary style and finally the fourth one, well, I don't think they have any style to be honest. Every couple came with great ideas during the renovation process but there was just one that blew me away: the vintage house.

This story made me think a lot about how to choose the right décor for a very special house with a lot of character. They are usually old houses begging for a complete makeover. They are also special and different homes with a lot of history and an authentic character.

It doesn't matter if you like the Nordic style, the rustic-country inspiration or the contemporary lines, the house will decide the décor. If you find one of these modern houses in the middle of the city but you love the rustic style, don't try to bring the country inside the house. The house has already made up its mind and wants to go with an urban style.

The first step to start planning on a home renovation and décor is to understand its context, where the house is located and the history behind its walls. Then, just listen to those decoration ideas that the house wants to share with you. Get familiarised with the different decoration styles and how to use them in each particular case, and only when you master them, try to mix them to create a new original style full of personality.

Gracias a la revista El Mueble yo ya tengo todo un cuaderno lleno de inspiración para la que será mi nueva cocina. Actualmente tengo una cocina oscura y poco luminosa que quiero convertir en una nueva y flamante cocina blanca. Y precisamente este mes El Mueble ha publicado un reportaje completo de cocinas en blanco de todos los estilos y para todos los gustos! Thanks to El Mueble magazine I already have a whole folder full of inspiration to renovate my kitchen! Currently I've got a sad dark kitchen that was already there when I got my house. De vez en cuando se encuentra en la red una de esas tiendas con diseños diferentes, especiales, geniales! Me ha gustado tanto encontrar a Citta Design y sus diseños inspirados en Cuba! Dicen que sus diseños han sido inspirados por los trajes de las mujeres cubanas, los colores, la música, los juegos cubanos, su flora y fauna y el mar.

Esta marca neocelandesa dice que son narradores de historias traídas de países lejanos y destinos exóticos. Me encanta ver como estos diseños cubanos llenan las casa australianas y neocelandesas en perfecta armonía con la decoración local!

Every now and then I find one of those different special great shops in the Internet. I found today the fantastic shop of Citta Design with beautiful designs inspired by Cuba! They found inspiration in the Cuban costume, their colours, their music, their games, their flora & fauna and the Cuban sea.

This New Zealander brand says that they are storytellers inspired by cultures from all over the world and exotic destinations. I love seeing the Cuban designs living together with the local decoration in the Australian and New Zealander homes.

Hola a todos! Hoy no es un lunes cualquier, hoy es Halloween! Muchos celebraréis la noche de Halloween en alguna fiesta de disfraces fastasmagóricos; muchos otros seguiréis la tradición cristiana celebrando el Día de Todos los Santos mañana, y mientras yo estaré acordándome de los deliciosos huesitos de santo tan típicos de estas fechas!

La fantasía de Halloween llega también al mundo del interiorismo y la decoración para convertir encantadoras casas en casas encantadas por un día. Sin duda, las antiguas casas abandonadas, repletas de polvo, viejos muebles y recuerdos olvidados son siempre una fuente de inspiración para estilistas y diseñadores.

Today Halloween is also reaching the interior design space to transfor charming houses into haunted houses for just one day. No doubt, old houses full of dust, old furniture and forgotten memories are always an inspiration source for designers and stylists.

Como voy de revista en revista haciendo recortes de todo aquello que me gusta e inspira, tenía unas cuantas cocinas de estilo campestre que había recortado de la revista NZ House and Garden. Me encantan los diseños de papeles decorativos para paredes de la firma holandesa Onszelf. Son diseños sencillos, con un par de tonalidades o tres, que no sobrecargan demasiado el ambiente, y muy al estilo nórdico. De base siempre el blanco, y sobre este discretas formas de colores azules, rojos, naranjas, grises y negros. Mi favorito es el papel de pared de inspiración parisina, ¡es precioso!

I love the wallpaper designs of the dutch company Onszelf. They are clever and simple designs, with 2 or 3 colours, they don't overwhelme the spaces, and they have this nordic design touch that I love so much. White always in the background and on it, other discreet shapes and patterns in blue, red, orange, grey and black. My favorite one is the wallpaper inspirated by Paris. It's so gorgeous!

¡He pasado todo el fin de semana deseando que llegase el lunes para enseñaros esta casa! Bueno, quizás no tanto, pero desde que encontré esta casa la semana pasada en la revista Nuevo Estilo, estaba deseando traerla a mi blog. Por dentro parece un moderno piso urbano, pero si os asomáis por la ventana descubriréis unas preciosas vistas al campo cántabro.

Tengo que admitir que cada semana intento traer a ChicDecó una casa de alguna revista internacional pero al final siempre acaba encantándome alguna otra de una revista española. ¿Será quizás qué en España tenemos las mejores revistas de decoración online? Cada lunes intento un nuevo plan para llevar una semana organizada. Saco la agenda, hago un listado de todo lo que hay que hacer a lo largo de la semana y me prometo a mí misma un premio si cumplo con mi lista de cosas que hacer durante esa semana. Todavía no he conseguido ganar mi propio premio.

Bueno, veamos que hay en mi lista esta semana: limpiar el correo y ponerme al día con mis emails, limpiar el jardín, hacer el cambio de armario para la nueva estación,... hmmm... ¡solo de leer toda la lista de cosas por hacer ya estoy agotada! ¿Porqué los lunes llegan cargados de tan buenos propósitos que nunca llegan a alcanzarse durante la semana?

En fin, que tengáis una productiva semana, y ya sabéis, si al final de ella habéis conseguido cumplir con todos lo que os habíais propuesto, no os olvidéis de daros un premio.

Every Monday I try a new plan to organise my week in the most possible productive way. I take my agenda and write down all those things that need to be done along the week, and I promise to give myself a reward if my todos list is been accomplished by the end of the week.

Well, let's see what's on my list this week: to clean up my inbox and catch up with my emails, to tidy up the garden, to bring the summer clothes to my wardrobe for the new season... hmmm... I'm already tired just reading my long list of todos! Why do Monday always come full of so many good intentions that they are never accomplished at the end of the week?

Anyway, I hope you had a productive week, and you know, if you achieve all your goals this week, don't forget to give a little reward to yourself. Have a lovely week everyone!

Ojeando algunos antiguos numeros de la versión francesa de la revista Cosmopolitan, he encontrado una nueva tienda super original, con diseños creativo y únicos: Yume Store. Me encantan sus cojines con divertidas formas de pera, manzana o nubes, en telas coloridas. ¡Son tan monos!

Reading some old issues of the French Cosmopolitan magazine I found a new original shop, with very creative and unique designs: Yume Store. I love their cushions with amusing shapes: pears, apples or clouds, in colorful fabric. They are so cute!

Siempre he pensado que la base perfecta para vestir la cama es una funda nórdica en blanco, que pueda combinarse fácilmente con cualquier color. Pero ayer encontré un diseño que me encantó! Se llama 'aviary' (pajarera) y era una preciosa funda blanca con dibujos de ramas y pajarillos en suaves grises. ¡Qué bonito!

Ahora estoy buscado otros diseños parecidos antes de decidirme a traer la nueva temática a mi dormitorio. He encontrado otros diseños similares en el lookbook de Kas Australia, y he traído algunos para enseñaros. Las colecciones de Kas Australia no se puede comprar en España pero tienen estupendas ideas para copiar. El diseño de la imagen siguiente es el aviary.

I've always thought that the perfect combination for the perfect bed-look is a white duna cover that combines easily with any other colour. But yesterday I found a new design that made me fall in love! It's an aviary design with birds on trees in soft greys and white background. So pretty!

Now I'm looking for similar designs before deciding whether I should bring this new theme to my bedroom. Today I found some similar design in Kas Australia lookbook, and I've brought them to show you. The image below is their avaiary design.

¿Quién podría imaginar que todos esos diferente tonos de azules en suelos, cortinas, paredes, etc, combinados con rojos y anaranjados podría quedar tan bien juntos? Sin duda esta es la casa más única y original que encontré la semana pasada en la red (en la revista Elle Decor). Un antiguo piso en Madrid es el marco de inspiración de este genial hogar de aire industrial y gusto por el color.

Who could have told that all those different blues in floors, curtains, walls, etc, combined with red and orange could be looking so good together? No doubt this house is the most unique and original one that I found last week in the Internet (in Elle Decor magazine). The inspiración based of this great industry style home is an old flat situated in Madrid, Spain.
