Esta semana la estoy pasando corriendo de un lado a otro, de tienda en tienda, comprando regalos para todos, escribiendo Christmas sin parar, organizando cenas y comidas para Navidad, decorando y redecorando la casa con los adornos navideños, asistiendo a todas las cenas de Navidad que todo el mundo organiza en estas fechas,... todavía no ha llegado la Navidad y ya estoy agotada!!! ¿Alguien puede darme algún truco para sobrevivir a la pre-Navidad?

I'm spending this week running from here to there, from one shop to another, buying presents for everybody, writing Christmas cards, planning dinners for Christmas, decorating and re-decoranting the house with the Christmas decorations, attending all the Christmas parties that everybody has at this time of the year,... Christmas is not here yet and I'm already so tired!!! Can anybody give me a tip to survive to these days before the Christmas day?

La semana pasada una de mis lectoras argentinas dejó un comentario en mi post de adornos de fieltro para árboles de Navidad. Decía que el fieltro no apetece en Argentina, donde tienen una Navidad a 40 grados, pues da demasiado calor. Entiendo perfectamente como es una Navidad en el hemisferio sur, sin frio, sin nieve, pensado sólo en acabar el trabajo para ir a la playa cada día. Así que decidí traer más ideas de decoración para árboles de Navidad de estilo playero. Una decoración navideña más fresca, utilizando conchas y caracolas, o motivos marítimos como barcos de vela, anclas, etc... Si pensáis que la decoración navideña no puede ser playera, ahí van algunas ideas de decoración inspiradas en el verano y en la playa.

Last week one of my readers' comments in my posts about the felt decorations for Christmas trees said that in Argentina, with 40 degrees, they don't really feel like felt for the Christmas trees, it's too warm! I know how a Christmas is the souther hemisphere, without cold weather or snow, you can't wait to finish your day in the office to go to the beach. So I thought it would be a good idea to bring this week beach themed decoration ideas for Christmas trees. They are a more fresh Chritmas decoration, less traditional, using shells and conches, or nautical decorations like sailboats, anchors, etc... If you think that the Christmas decoration can't have a beach look and still look like Christmas decoration, here there are some ideas inspired by the summer and the beach.

Lo último en árboles de Navidad son los adornos de fieltro! Sencillos de hacer, baratos de comprar, fáciles de guardar. Especialmente ideales si tienes niños o gatos en casa a los que les gusta jugar con los adornos del árbol y acaban rompiendo una a una todas las bolas. Decorate your Christmas tree with felt decoration! These ornaments are easy to make, cheap to buy and handy to store. They are perfect if you have little kids or cats at home, they like playing with the Christmas tree decoration and they end up breaking all the baubles! Si piensas que la Navidad es blanca y roja por el traje de Papá Noel, yo tengo otra teoría sobre que inspiró los colores típicos de la Navidad: los garrotes de caramelo de menta. Por ello, si prefieres una decoración tradicional en Navidad, apuesta por las rayas blancas y rojas. Acertarás seguro!

If you think that the colours of the Christmas are white and red inspired by Santa Claus' custome, I have another theory about what inspired the colours of the Christmas season: the peppermint candies! Hoy me dispongo a preparar mi primera tanda de pastas de Navidad! Ya tengo los moldes, los ingredientes, las mejores recetas de la red y pequeñas cajitas preparada para empaquetar mis pastitas una vez terminadas. I'm about to start my first batch of Christmas cookies! I have the ingredients ready, a selection of the best recipes in the Internet and little boxes to pack my cookies once they are finished. A few months ago I published a post about saying thank you with homemade cookies. My intention now is to make several boxes of cookies to give away to my friends and family in Christmas. And also keep some for myself of course! Ok, there we go!

Ayer recibí un comentario desde Argentina que describía la Navidad argentina a 40 grados. Pues sí, este año yo también experimentaré lo que pasar las Navidades a 40 grados en la playa, pues ya sabeis que soy una española viviendo en Australia. Este año he tenido que hacer unas cuantas decisiones decorativas para esta Navidad diferente y he decidido utilizar colores alegres y cálidos (fucsias, naranjas, mostazas y rojos) para decorar la casa. No me pegan los tonos suaves o frios, aquí no hace frio, así que que me he decantado por los colores alegres llenos de vida.

Yesterday I got a comment from Argentina describing the Argentinian Christmas as a very hot time of the year. Yes, this year I'm also experiencing how a hot Christmas feels, because as you already probably know, I'm a Spanish girl living in Australia. This year I decided to decorate the house for Christmas with bright and warm colours (fucsias, oranges, yellows and reds). I don't think the soft and cold colours match to a warm Christmas, so I made the decision of using bright colours this year!

Como la blogosfera está llena de ideas para calendarios de Adviento (que cuenta los 24 días antes de la Navidad) yo este año he decidido recuperar la tradición de la corona de Adviento. Se trata de una corona de ramas con cuatro velas que cuenta los 4 domingos anteriores a la Navidad. Cada domingo se enciende una vela hasta que quedan las 4 encendidas en Navidad. Para aquellos que os gusten las tradiciones navideñas tanto como a mí, ahí van unas cuantas ideas para hacer una bella corona de Adviento.

The blogosphere is already full of ideas to create Advent calendars (to count down the 24 days before Christmas), so this year I thought I could bring to my blog the traditional Advert wreath instead. It's a evergreen wreath with four candles to count down the 4 Sundays before Christmas. A candle must be on each Sunday, and all of them will be on in Christmas.
