A mí me ha encantado este reportaje porque a pesar de que ahora llega la avalancha de imágenes veraniegas, casi todas ellas son de playa. No es que la playa esté nada mal, pero yo que siempre he vivido en Madrid, la piscina fue siempre sin duda la protagonista de mis veranos. Este es el primer reportaje que veo este año dedicado a la piscina y me ha hecho recordar mis veranos en Madrid.

En fin... Madrid, pronto estaré allí de nuevo!

I'm loving this article today because, even though the blogosphere is full of summer images at the moment, most of them are beaches! And it's not that I don't like beaches, but I always lived in Madrid (until I moved to Australia) and the swimming pool was my favourite place in summer! This is the first article in the pool that I found this year and it made me travel mentally to my summers in Madrid.

(Sigh...) Madrid, I'll be there very soon again!!!

Hoy el título de la casa de la semana se lo ha ganado esta casa de verano publicada en el nuevo número de julio de la revista ElleDecor. Su paleta de blancos combinada con tonos calídos anaranjados y rayas blancas y negras me han inspirado totalmente para darle un aire cálido y veraniego a mi propia casa.

La casa ha sido pensada para disfrutar de los días de verano en familia. Su interior está bañado de luz e inspira tranquilidad y descanso, que es exactamente lo que todos necesitas en verano, ¿no? Sol y siesta!

Today this stunning summer home won the title of the house of the week. It was published in the new July issue of ElleDecor. The house has been decorated in white, warn orange colours and bold black and white stripes (as you already know, my favourite fabric design!). This house has totally inspired me today, and I'm already planning a similar look and feel at home for this summer.

This stylish home has been designed to enjoy the summer days with family and friends. The interior is full of light, calm and relaxed, what is exactly what everybody needs in summer, isn't it? Sun and naps!

Hola a todos! Hace unas semanas decidí comenzar mi día de inspiración y me está encantado. He decidido que mi día de inspiración sea el domingo. Cada domingo reservo mi agenda a buscar inspiración fuera de casa, a anotar ideas y a hacer paneles de inspiración para visualizar las ideas recogidas.

Durante la semana voy planeando la agenda de mi día de inspiración para que cuando este llegue, pueda aprovecharlo bien. ¿Qué cosas pueden hacerse en tu día de inspiración? Ahí van una cuantas ideas.

Dedícate un día de inspiración

1. Visita tus tiendas favoritas. No tienes que ir cada semana de compras, sólo observa tendencias, infórmate sobre nuevos materiales y diseños, y recoge catálogos e ideas. Haz un archivo mental sobre lo que existe en el mercado más cercano a ti.

2. Lee revistas y libros. Las revistas son una fantástica fuente de inspiración, pero no pases por sus páginas simplemente observando fotos bonitas, haz anotaciones sobre todo lo que leas y aprendas en ellas.

3. Visita exposiciones. Hazte con una agenda cultural y no te pierda ni una exposición de arte, decoración, fotografía, etc... mantente al tanto de todas las nuevas tendencias.

4. Repasa tus blogs favoritos. Haz una lista de no más de 7 u 8 blogs que para ti sean la mejor fuente de inspiración, que tengan un estilo similar a tu estilo personal y repasa lo que han publicado a lo largo de la semana. Una vez más, haz anotaciones sobre todo lo que te guste.

5. Apúntate a un curso de interiorismo. Hoy existen muchísimos cursos que pueden hacerse a distancia en tu tiempo libro. Eso sí, infórmate bien de los contenidos, el programa, la dinámica del curso, las prácticas, etc... A veces vale más la pena hacerse con un buen libro de contenidos similares que pagar un curso.


Hello everyone! A few weeks ago I started to dedicate to myself one day a week to inspiration. I call it my inspiration day and I'm loving it! I decided that my inspiration day should be on Sundays! Every Sunday my agenda is already booked with my own inspiration day appointments. It's a day to go out and find inspiración outside, take notes of ideas and display those ideas in my inspiration boards.

Along the week I plan my inspiration day agenda for the Sunday to make the most of it. What kind of things can you do in an inspiration day? Plenty! Here are some ideas:

Dedicate an inspiration day to yourself

1. Visit your favourite shops. You don't need to go shopping every week, just go and observe new tendencies, get informed about new materials and designs, and get catalogues and ideas. Make a mental archive about everything in your closest market.

2. Read books and magazines. Magazines are a fantistic inspiration source, but don't go through their pages just looking at pretty photos, take notes of everything that you discover and learn in them.

3. Visit exhibitions. Find a cultural agenda and don't miss any art, design and photography exhibition. Be in the know.

4. Take a look at your favourite blogs. Select no more than 7 or 8 blogs that are your main inspiration source and share a very similar style than your personal one. Take a quick look at what they have been posting during the week. Then again, make notes.

5. Find an interiorism course. You will find so many online courses that you can easily follow in your spare time. Some of them, even free! But, get well informed about the content, the program, the training, etc. Sometimes it's worth to spend the money in a good book of a similar topic than to pay an online course.

Hoy estreno sección de verano en ChicDecó: resfrescos para el verano! Y es que a mí me encantan los refrescos caseros, hechos con zumos y azúcar, super-refrescantes e ideales para esta época del año!

En estos momentos no sé que me está gustando más, si la receta que acabo de probar de limonada de fruta de la pasión de Mowellicious o su preciosa imagen rescatada de su blog. Bueno, ahí va la receta:

• 4 limones, sólo el zumo

• 4 piezas de fruta de la pasión, sólo el zumo

• 3 tazas de agúa

• 200 grs. de azúcar

• 2 ó 3 gotas de colorante natural rosa

Mezclar todo bien, enfriar en el frigorífico durante unas horas y servir con hielo y hojitas de menta!

Today, I'm starting a new summer section in ChicDecó: summer drinks! Because I love homemade summer drinks, made with juices and sugar, super-refreshing and perfect for this time of the year!

At this moment, I don't know what I'm enjoying more, whether the delicious passion leamonade recipe that I just tried from Mowellicious or the gorgeous image from his wonderful blog. Well, here is the recipe:

• 4 lemons, juice only
• 4 passion fruits, juice only
• 3 cups of water
• 3/4 cup of unrefined sugar
• 2 or 3 drops of pink food natural colouring

Mix all the ingredients together. Refrigerate and serve with ice a some mint.

Muchos reciclamos envases para que puedan tener una segunda vía y cuidar del medio ambiente ¿no? Pero ¿y sí pudiesemos darles una segunda vida en casa antes de reciclarlos siquiera? Muy pocos habrán pensado que una lata vacía pueda convertirse en un objeto de decoración. Sin embargo, yo cada día veo más y más latas recicladas en revistas de decoración.

Este mes, me ha encantado el reportaje publicado en la revista Sweet Paul sobre una segunda vida para las viejas latas usadas. Había estado haciendo una recopilación de mis imágenes favoritas de ideas de decoración con latas desde hacía algún tiempo y este reportaje a culminado mi recopilación. Algunos otros ejemplos también de la revista MiCasa son floreros, velas o botes de lapiceros, pero a mí se me ocurren cientos de ideas más!

Most of us recicle cans so that they can have a second life and take care of our enviroment, aren't we? But, what about giving them a second life at home before being recicled? Could you have imagined that a old tin can could become a decorative object at home? I could have not imagined that either but every day I can see more and more often recicled cans in decoration magazines.

This month I found out some wonderful examples of old tin cans with a second new life as decorative objects in Sweet Paul magazine. I had been collecting some images of decorative tin cans in magazines lately, but Sweet Paul magazine brought the best ideas this month. Some examples from MiCasa magazine are vases with flowers, candles or penholders, but I'm suddenly having a hundred of other ideas!

Today I'm loving this gorgeous apartment in New York, published in the July issue of Elle Deco magazine. Its owner is the beautiful Keri Russel (specially known in Spain thank to her role in Felicity), do you remember her?

Yo hoy he desayunado haciendo listas: la listas de cosas pendiente que tengo que hacer durante la semana, la lista de la compra, la lista de cosas que quiero hacer este verano, la lista para las vacaciones,...

¿Estáis preparando ya vuestras vacaciones? Yo llevo planeándolas ya meses! Estoy deseando hacer la maleta y comenzar la aventura! ¿Dónde pasaréis esta año las vacaciones? ¿Algún lugar especial? Yo voy a pasarlas con mi familia, qué plan más estupendo!!! (sobre todos si llevas un par de años viviendo en las antípodas sin ver a tu familia ni amigos para nada). Un baño vintage en verdeazuladoA vintage bathroom in aqua colour

El nuevo número de la revista Covet Garden ya está online y entre sus páginas he descubierto una encantadora casa de la que he rescatado este precioso baño en blanco y verde-azulado. Me encanta sus paredes de madera blanca, combinadas con el azul-verdoso de la parte superior de la pared.

Para darle un aire vintage a este baño, su propietaria se hizo con 3 portadas antiguas de un periódico italiano (La Nazione) y las dispuso sobre la pared del baño. Una idea superoriginal que a mi sin duda me ha encantado!

The new issue of Covet Garden magazine is already online and in its pages I found out a lovely house with a pretty bathroom in aqua colour and a wonderful vintage look. I'm loving the white wood walls with the aqua walls at the top. The combination is great.

To get that lovely vintage look, its owner got 3 different covers from an old Italian newspaper (La Nazione) and create wall decorations with them. What a fantastic idea! I love it!

Porque llega el verano y apetecen, porque estamos en plena operación bikini, porque queremos comenzar a comer sano desde ya, o por el motivo que sea, el verano es el momento perfecto para hacerse con un buen recetario de ensaladas.

A mí me encanta combinar frutas, verduras, hortalizas y frutos secos en la misma ensalada. Me encanta que tenga varios colores, una mezcla de sabores dulces y salados y un buen aliño... Ah! y queso! Adoro todo tipo de quesos, uuhhhh... delicioso!

En el número de verano de la revista Sweet Paul hay todo un recetario de sanas y deliciosas ensaladas. Pero además nos las presentan así, casi como obras de arte. Estoy pensando en imprimirme estas imágenes y hacerme unos cuadros para mi cocina con ellas. ¿Verdad que son geniales?

Because summer is coming, because we are in the middle of the operation bikini, because we want to start a healthy life-style from today, or because whatever the reason is, summer is the perfect time to start a good salad recipe book.

I love mixing fruits, vegies and nuts in the same salad. I love colourful salads with a mix of sweet and salty flavours and a good dressing... oh, yes! and cheese!!! I love all kind of cheeses, yum!

In the summer issue of Sweet Paul magazine you can find a whole collection of healthy summer salad recipes. And they have also presented them like this, almost like a masterpiece. I'm loving these pictures today. I'm thinking I'm going to print them and make some wall decoration with them for my kitchen. Aren't they great?

No hay nada mejor que una deliciosa comida hecha en casa, bien presentada y organizada en la mesa en una bonita vajilla, que a su vez reposa sobre una suave mantelería. No es cuestión de lujo, sólo es cuestión de crear un ambiente hogareño alrededor de la mesa. Esta es la lección aprendida de la tienda de textiles sueca de Anna Nyblom Kollén.

Anna relata como la vida en la granja en la que vive tiene a todos ocupados durante el día recolectando frutas y verduras y trabajando en la huerta. Cuando llega la noche es el momento de sentarse alrededor de la mesa y disfrutar de la familia con una buena comida.

Sus diseños son tradicionales, inspirados en la vida en la granja en la que vive. Dice que crea sus diseños con una mano en el álbum de familia y la otra en el cuaderno de esbozos. Sin duda un toque único muy especial.


There is nothing better than a delicious home-made meal, presented and organised in a beautiful tableware, that rests on soft and nice tablecloths. I love the homey feeling around the table that Anna Nyblom Kollén brings to our homes through her Swedish tablecloth.

She says in her website that in the farm where she lives everybody is occupied with collecting berries and vegetables, working in the garden etc. When the evening comes, it is time for good food and drinks. A feast that last well into the bright warm summer night.

Her traditional pattern are inspired by the farm and the life there. Anna says that she desings with one hand in the family album and the other at the sketchbook. Could her designers be any more special?
